Ottawa Fashion Week 2011 - Backstage Pass

The Fashion Press was cordially invited to Ottawa Fashion Week 2011. The location was at the National Art Gallery and it was once again beautifully set up. We adored ever minute of it. Some of our favorite designers were: Birds of North America, Elizbourk, !Nu.I and of course Adrian Wu, who was by far the highlight of the weekend. We got tons of photos, so there will be a few more posts in the upcoming days to keep your mind excited. Here are some images of the activity happening backstage. The Fashion Press and Ottawa Fashion Week Give Away!

Ottawa Fashion Week is from March 18th-20th and we are giving away 2 day passes for the shows on the 19th! To get these passes all you have to do is send us your artwork, photos, or writing to leejones@thefashionpress.org. The best works will be included in our next print issue, which comes out April 30th, and you will get to attend Ottawa Fashion Week. Deadline is March 13th!

Ottawa Fashion Week 2010

I got the opportunity to check out Ottawa Fashion Week at the end of october and it was definitely worth it. I caught the shows: Sugarbum Designs, Yola Couture, Soltys & Snajdr and Adrian Wu. It was super fun. Unfortunately, all the photos I took came out blurry (a photographer's nightmare) because of my stubbornness against using digital. But, I'm lucky to have a good friend who let me post his amazing photos. Andrew Szeto has a sweet website.Check it out by clicking here.

All the shows were impressive, but the one that really caught my attention was Adrian Wu on sunday night. It was poetic, timeless and romantic. The lights were dimmed down, it gave a dreamy atmosphere to the runway. The music in the background was also surreal and absolutely perfect for the show. Here is the video of the song. Ottawa Fashion Week October 29th - 31st

Ottawa Fashion Week first came onto the scene as a platform for Fall/Winter '09 collections and has since proved to be a strong component of the city's style scene. Managed by a dedicated and passionate team, OFW is able to bring fashion to the arts community with each season it undertakes. OFW quickly established itself as a regular avenue for designers to present their collections and instantly captivated a continuously growing audience. As the event grows stronger with each successful season, its ambition and purpose remains the same: to showcase both established designers and newcomers in a community environment where they can join the rest of Ottawa in supporting the creative and multi-dimensional art form that is called fashion.
